but 作为并列连词，连接两个并列成分或分句，表转折或对比关系，用得最广。
例如：We were coming to see you but it rained.

however 常作副词，常以插入语形式出现，用逗号与句子其它部分隔开。
例如：I'd like to go with you. However, I'm very busy.

yet 常置于第二部分或分句之前，含有强烈的对比意味，有时可与and连用。
例如：We have won great victories, yet more serious struggle are still ahead of us. It is strange, and yet it is true.

still 意为“仍然，(虽然)...可还是”，常置于第二个分句前，前面的分句有让步之意。
例如：We have made some achievements, still we should be modest and prudent.

quiet 宁静的，安静的；指没有声音，不吵闹或心里没有烦恼、焦虑；
